We will update this info when Mario Kart DS patch comes out that lets you play it on other DS flash cards and without a 2Mb SAVE card.
To play it from a Flash Card Mario Kart rom has to be patched with GST Universal patcher version 3.0 and will work only on G6 and NeoFlash cards + in the Pass Me Key you have to have a DS game card (like Nintendogs) that has FLASH 2Mb space for game save (this is checked by the game at the startup). The ROM is a good dump, but it needs patching. Mario Kart DS at DID NOT work on any of the emulators. Emulate or play as backups on the DS consoles
